Biography

Adela is convinced that the awe-inspiring feelings of glee, amusement, and delight that have triggered her senses at times throughout her entire life- those same feelings that have registered absolute peace as she has flickered through life, eagle-eyed, spotting shapes, textures, and colors with each blink of her eyes, unquestionably have led her to explore the artistic world firsthand.

Her journey began in 1994, as the founder and artisan of Adela's Functional Art. During that endeavor, Adela created a line of handcrafted hardware using wooden knobs and light switch plates, upholstered with a gamut of textiles. Each decorative piece was glazed with resin to the point that it looked and felt just like porcelain.

Through the years, Adela Hastings' art carefully aged essence remained! She preserved her early artistic instincts and gradually began to gather her thoughts and ideas. Soon enough, she had a recipe. Her recipe had no instructions- no rules, there were no boundaries. It tasted just like freedom, total perfection!

To Adela, being frugal meant adding extra value and exquisiteness to the final product. Repurposing became the objective- leaving her natural footprint while contributing less to the landfill and more to the artistic playground. Nowadays, Adela mixes recycled materials, pairing discarded objects using various media. Adela believes that she has found a magnificent realm, a shelter to exercise mindfulness and to experience a healthy state of body and mind.

Adela Hastings holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health Education. She is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and a Certified Medical Interpreter (CCHI). She works as a Medical Interpreter-Translator and she is an avid gardener.
